2018 OFLC Summer Student Ministry Missions

Summer 2018 Missions

Serve Our City
June 13- 16, 2018
Crossroads of the Rockies, Denver, CO
8th-12th graders (2017-2018 school year)

There is nothing like spending a week away with your Christian brothers and sisters in service to others. God has called us to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth and that includes our own backyard.

Navajo Reservation New Mexico

We partnered with Experience Mission again this summer to serve families in remote desert communities through a kids club, home repair projects, and church outreach programs.

Middle School on Mission
June 14-16, 2018
Centennial, CO

Students who are currently in 6th and 7th grade joined us for this introduction to OFLC missions. We grew UP in our relationship with Jesus, IN with our relationships together, and OUT as we served in Jesus’ name.

Summer 2017 Missions

Middle School on Mission
June 23-25, 2017
On June 23rd, OFLC’s Middle School Coordinator, Kelly Bruehl, led a group of 18 kids and 3 other adults through a service-and fun-filled mission weekend right here in our own backyard. Saturday morning, the group was up and at ’em early at a local food bank, helping sort out an entire garage of donated items as well as helping serve at the bank and clean up their playground.  Saturday afternoon was spent in Roxborough, doing yard work and painting for a family.  On Sunday, the group awoke to breakfast in the HS Youth Room and shared their experiences as a group with family members before attending church. Praise God for providing these opportunities for our kids!

High School Experience Mission West Virginia
June 17-24, 2017
A group of our OFLC kids awoke before the crack of dawn Saturday morning, June 17th, to begin an amazing mission trip to West Virginia.  The crew of fourteen (12 youth and 2 adults) worked to clean up and repair homes, but also had the opportunity to gather together in fellowship and prayer with folks in the community.  The crew was rewarded with a couple of sight-seeing and R&R activities on their way back to the Charlotte Airport on Saturday, June 24th.

Thank you to all who kept the West Virginia Mission group in your thoughts and prayers.  We’re thrilled that they were all able to share extraordinary life in Christ with others, while also being touched by the heartfelt kindness of the McDowell County residents.

High School Serve Our City
July 26-29, 2017
God has called us to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth…and that includes our own backyard. Here in Denver, there are adults and children living in poverty that is shocking. Once again, this summer, we got the opportunity to serve those in our own backyard – to serve OUR city.  We had the incredible chance to help with Crossroads of the Rockies ministries’ “Kidz Klub” during the day, and branch out to other areas, suchas serving food and enjoying a meal in fellowship with folks from The Table at Bethlehem Lutheran in Lakewood.  We also played with kids at “Glorified Recess”, an outdoor playground ministry adjacent to housing projects for refugees.  And, we capped off the mission by hosting a FREE picnic in the park (complete with live music and a bouncy castle for the kids!) for Athmar Church, host of Crossroads of the Rockies’ ministry programs.  God has truly blessed us, and given us the chance to serve those around us, near and far.
