Thanksgiving Mission Trip Ysleta

YSLETA LUTHERAN MISSION / NOV 27-DEC 1

This year marks the 27th year of sending volunteers to the Ysleta Lutheran Mission to share Thanksgiving by serving an estimated 1,000 meals to those in need in the El Paso/Juarez communities and the partner churches in Mexico.

Save the dates if you are considering being part of this fun, engaging and impactful mission trip. More info will be coming on how you can be part of this mission even if you are unable to travel, through donations of pre-cooked turkeys, candy and financial contributions.

The Gospel According to John / Part 1: The Light Shines in the Darkness
The gospel of John is a unique and compelling look at the life of Jesus. In chapter 20 verse 31 John makes his purpose in writing clear: “These things are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” The Gospel According to John was written by one who spent three years with Jesus had a uniquely intimate relationship with Him. Join us at Our Father as we strive to learn more about Jesus and draw closer in a life-giving relationship with Him.

Join us on the weekend of August 24-25 as we begin the first of four parts of this sermon series for the entirety of our 2024-2025 ministry year.

This fall we will be studying the book of Proverbs. Your first thought might be, ok, we’ll learn some wise sayings on how to be a better person, I guess I could use that. Proverbs is so much more than that. It introduces us to wise thinking, speaking, parenting, leading, and shows us how to live and thrive the way God created us to be – and can’t we all use that?! Jesus: Legend or Lord is a curriculum written and presented by Paul Maier of Western Michigan University and the second vice president of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Professor Jim Rairdon, who leads one of our Saturday Bible classes, will be facilitating and leading this amazing apologetics course, which follows simple logic to prove that Jesus isn’t just great, but that His claims on divinity and resurrection are founded and accurate.

This five week long introductory class gives you an opportunity to explore life and its meaning from a historic Lutheran Christian perspective. It's a safe space to ask questions about the chief teachings of the Christian faith as they are believed, confessed and taught in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. It's a relaxed, non-threatening, friendly course designed for individuals new to the Lutheran church, and is a great refresher course for those with a Lutheran background.
