This study of Jesus provides a chronological account of the life of Christ, showing us who Jesus of Nazareth is and how He fulfills His mission. The life of Christ, though only 30-some years long and only containing three years of public ministry, proclaimed to the whole world that God had come to live among us to give His life that we might be His own.

“The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.” (Luke 19:10) The author of the Gospel of Luke seems to want to appeal to the same people he notes Jesus appealed to: the elderly and infertile, the young, the poor, the powerless, the outsiders, the outcasts, and all the people who felt unseen or alone. We will see how Jesus makes the sinners, the sickly, the tax collectors and the Samaritans the heroes of his stories. Nearly half Luke’s Gospel shows us Jesus’s final journey to Jerusalem. We will talk about what Jesus focused on as He knew his time on Earth was short… and what we should focus on too! This book study focuses on themes, motifs, people groups Luke wrote about, author choices, and our life application of the first installment of Luke’s writings.

Essential Teachings of the Christian faith is a system study of the basic doctrines of the Christian Church from a distinctly Lutheran perspective. This is a deep dive into systematic theology, including conversion, redemption, justification, sanctification, Law and Gospel, prayer, the Church and the Sacraments. Come discover the richness of a life deeply formed by the beauty of God’s Word. (You do not have to have participated in “Foundations” or “Foundations 1” to understand this class! All are welcome.)
