BEGINS FEB 25-26
“For I tell you this scripture must be fulfilled in me: `And he was numbered with the transgressors.'”
Seven hundred years before the birth of Christ, the prophet Isaiah was given a vision of the promised messiah who would bear our griefs and carry our sorrows. He would be stricken, smitten, and afflicted and by His wounds we would be healed. As Jesus was preparing to face the sorrow and anguish of the cross, He spoke of these ancient words declaring, “this scripture must be fulfilled in me.” To say that God must do something is astonishing. He was so thoroughly committed to His people there simply was no other option.
Jesus had to die.
This Lent at Our Father we are slowing down and focusing on the final hours in the life of Jesus as recorded in the Gospel of Luke. As the Son of God gets inevitably closer and closer to the cross, we will see again the power of His unstoppable love. The promises of God simply must be fulfilled.
